We've Got Mail
It’s a great day when we get letters and emails from our patients and their families. Whether it’s an update, a note of appreciation or constructive feedback, we’re always interesting in hearing from the people we serve.
It’s a special treat when we get a note from someone out-of-the-blue, like the email we received this week from Peggy Wasson. Peggy writes:
“I can't say enough good about Dr. Ghosh. Not only is he a wonderful person, he truly cares about people, and his patients literally come first to him!
My mom was given a very harsh medication by another hematologist in Cedar Rapids. After one week of this medication, I noticed my mom wasn't getting better; she was getting worse. I voiced my concern to this doctor, and she assured me that everything was fine. After two weeks, my mom was even worse, and I again consulted this doctor. She said my mom was to stay on the medication for one more week.
Two days later, I rushed my mom to the emergency room. She couldn't breathe and was so weak, she could barely move. She ended up spending the next 33 days at St. Luke’s Hospital. Her heart had started to shut down, and the hospital was discussing palliative care for her.
This is when I called Dr. Ghosh and asked if he would please help my mom. He was immediately at the hospital and started treating her. She had been poisoned by the medication, and her entire body had started to shut down. Dr. Ghosh started her on the road to recovery. She weighed 80 pounds and was on a feeding tube for three weeks. During this time, she had other health issues – thrush, gout and a C. difficile infection.
After nearly five weeks in the hospital, she was well enough to go to a rehabilitation facility for 45 days and then home. Today she is 89 years old, healthy and doing well. My mom is still alive because of Dr. Ghosh. God Bless you, Dr. Ghosh!”
We’re blessed by these words and by the comments we receive from others about their experience with The Ghosh Center. Some of these are captured on our Testimonials page; videos are featured on our YouTube channel.
We’ll be adding additional videos in the weeks to come and sharing people’s stories on this blog. If you’d like to share yours, we’d love to learn more. Contact us at theghoshcenteriowa@gmail.com and someone will follow-up to talk with you first-hand.
