The Healing Energy of Reiki
We all experience stress. And it doesn’t just hit us at one dimension. Stress throws us off-balance on many levels, physically, mentally and emotionally. This is especially true of illness, when disease creates a literal state of “dis-ease.” At The Ghosh Center, we know that restoring balance and regaining harmony are essential to restoring health. Which is why we offer a host of healing therapies, including Reiki.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of complementary medicine that works by restoring your natural flow of energy. It’s based on the seven energy centers – or chakras – of the body. Because stress and illness can block the flow between these centers, Reiki practitioners work as conduits to channel energy, remove the barriers and bring your energy back into balance.
What to Expect from Reiki
Reiki is a gentle, respectful practice that takes place in a peaceful setting. During Reiki, practitioners place their hands lightly on or just above the recipient, moving through each of the seven energy centers and quietly sensing and invoking energy. People report that Reiki feels like a warm, glowing feeling that radiates peace. Reiki promotes relaxation, which in turn facilitates the body’s natural healing response. Some people are so relaxed they fall asleep and awaken feeling renewed.
At The Ghosh Center, Reiki is offered to patients and family members every Thursday in the privacy of our family lounge. Although sessions last less than 30 minutes, the calm that people experience continues well beyond the therapy session.
Is Reiki a Religion?
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It doesn’t include a doctrine and doesn't require you to alter your beliefs in order to experience the healing benefits. Because Reiki focuses on mind, body and spirit, many individuals find that it helps them connect to their inner spirituality.
